Alberta Wholesale Contract Growers of Native Plants, Shrubs and Seeds ESRS
Native Plant Producers, ESRS has been cultivating rangeland grasses, plants, shrubs, wildflowers for the reclamation of plant communities disturbed by major industrial activity since 1980.

Over the years, the tireless dedication and scientific research of the ESRS staff has resulted in the company becoming a key player in the successful re-establishment of many delicate plant communities. Recent reclamation statistics have proven that the introduction of our plug production technology has greatly enhanced the efficiency of our latest reclamation projects.Large Production Specialty Contract Growers

Large Production Specialty Contract Growers
Located near Calgary, since 1985 we have harvested and reproduced hundreds of rangeland native plants and seeds, producing them in our large greenhouse and in our 180 acres of production beds.

With three consultants on staff and a wealth of experience both in production and reclamation we are able to reproduce and successfully reintroduce hundreds of species back into their native environment.

Our business is deigned to serve the reclamation industry, provincial and federal governments, the oil industry, mining industry, municipalities, golf courses, wholesale garden centres and anyone requiring environmental assessments or large scale native plant and seed production capabilities. Most of our clients are located in Canada's prairie provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia, however, we do have clients in the USA and as far away as Australia.

Rangeland Plant Communities can be very delicate
Many rangeland plant communities contain species that are very slow to reproduce. When you see a healthy rangeland ecosystem it has often taken hundreds of years to reach that state. Therefore, after a major disturbance such as road construction, oil exploration or pipeline construction successful recovery can be a major challenge.

Large Reclamation using Fescue Plugs

Planted PlugPlug Production
Re-introducing native species into a severely disturbed ecosystem can often prove to be very difficult. After many years of reclamation management, seed production and scientific experimentation we have proved that significant benefits can be obtained using plugs rather than seeds. Therefore, plugs form a significant part of our production. We identify on this website which species we recommend you purchase as plugs.
Production Capacity
600,000 plugs/yr.
