Meet The Team at Eastern Slopes Rangeland Seeds Ltd

Kathy TannasKathy Tannas BEd, U of C, plant taxonomist of 30 years and author of Common Plants of The Western Rangelands. Kathy has skills in rare plant, rangeland and plant community studies in all eco-regions of Alberta and adjacent areas. She has taught plant identification courses and mentors young professionals. Kathy has a background in farming and ranching, and an empathy with the primary producer and his concerns.

Clare TannasClare Tannas BSc, U of A, rangeland Agrologist with 30 years experience. Clare specializes in rare plant and community studies, and in rangeland studies and report writing throughout and adjacent areas.

Clare is especially skilled in recognizing native plant species as they occur in their natural environment, and applying this to the reproduction of these species in both field and greenhouse settings.

Clare owns and manages 3800 acres of ranch and farmland, and thus understands the producer’s perspective.

Eileen TannasEileen Tannas BSc, Specialization in Mathematics and Finance U of A. Eileen is the Greenhouse and Finance manager for ESRS. Currently Eileen is expanding the line of bedding plants that ESRS carries both annual tame species and perennial native species.

Steven Tannas BSc, U of A, PhD candidate U of A, Rangeland Agrologist of 5 years and technical assistant for another 6 years. Steven currently Breeder Plot Manager for ESRS and is involved in developing new native species for restoration efforts.

Steven TannasSteven is also highly involved in restoration and environmental survey work. He is currently involved in experimental research into restoration of fescue grasslands. In addition to this work Steven has started to teach plant identification courses.

    Kristen Jose BSc, Sustainable Agriculture U of A, MSc candidate in Ancient Languages, Louiseville, Kentucky. Kristen has worked both in her native Alberta and in international settings. She has one year as a professional in plant and rangeland studies, with another four years as a technician, and is skilled in both field and office follow-up work.
